Row row row your Russian boat
You probably read about the keystone cops spy ship sent by Russians which got rammed by a Lebanese shipment of goats from Romania bound for Jordan. It was called the “Liman”. Ever since the Ukraine crisis in 2014 where Russia literally used thug tactics to annex Crimea, there’s been a huge increase in Black Sea shenanigans by Russia. The Liman ship’s crewmembers were rescued by a Turk vessel after it plunged into the sea about 20 miles northwest of the Bosporus Strait.
The point is that Russian ships have had a habit of hovering in NATO presence for quite some time. Liman had been operating in the Syrian theater and in southern Europe primarily. Crimea’s Sevastopol port is where supplies for the Russian forces supporting Syria originate. The shipments are so regular that Turks are calling it “Syria Express” as they flow back and forth through the Bosporus straight. (Go ahead and google it.)
Russia has setup a navy base in Syria in the port of Tartus where it has deployed its S-300 air defense missile system making threats to the US air campaigns.
How long do you suppose Russia is going to keep up the aggression toward US and NATO interests of Middle East stability as long as our country isn’t willing to toe the line by getting involved?
